The van has warned you twice....time for a new starter. Ignore at your peril.
Fwiw they can be rebuilt at home but it is a pita getting the parts etc, buy a decent rebuildt.No code has to be inserted here.

 

As the starter was replaced six months back I'd be looking at a tired battery, see if you can borrow a battery just to check.

 

I missed the 6 months starter. Dying battery/weak charging or no charge....the ground wire and the + wire to starter are undersized, check all connections and ground straps.

 

The starter spins but does not engage. I will put my bet on the starter gear. The battery should be fine since it spins. Can you upøoad a sound file?

 

hi, a new battery was fitted at the same time as the starter motor as the mechanic wrote on the battery and starter motor (16 04 2016) .so went out shopping with the misses today van started after about 10 attempts outside the house just kept spinning then engaged I said to her not a good idea to go shopping but she was having not of it so of we went ! got there parked at the top of the carpark facing downhill come back to the van 5 hours later turned it over it just wurred around did this 4 times then all it did was a dull click no spining so she had to push with the help of some bloke in the carpark,ha ha, fired up got home . so last night ordered a new starter motor should be here Tuesday.will keep in touch cheers folks.

still sounds like low voltage to me, could simply be a bad connection

 

Spend 30 seconds to check charging output. Check bat voltage...start engine. Check battery voltage again. Same = no charge, 14.5 aprox probably starter.

Lets hope new new starter lasts more than six months then. Mines done 17 years and going well.

 

I'd be querying just how "new" that new starter was 6 months ago... Sounds more like a working (at the time of fitment) second-hand item.

 

Common problem.....Buy cheap, buy twice!

£90 also sounds like a cheap one!

About £130 for an EXCHANGE one of good quality. (Hella or Bosch)

Closer to 200 for an "outright" purchase.
